The PH-402102K Proheat Gear Set is a replacement drive-gear set for compatible Proheat M-Series auxiliary coolant heaters equipped with the diaphragm-style compressor. The gear set is located within the heater burner-head assembly and transfers mechanical power from the heater motor to the diaphragm compressor.

In an M-Series heater, the electric motor performs more than one function within the burner assembly. The motor drives the combustion-air blower while its gear drive also operates the compressor. The 402102K gear set provides the mechanical connection between the motor and compressor, allowing the compressor to produce the air pressure required by the heater’s fuel and combustion system.

The diaphragm compressor is an important part of the M-Series combustion system. During operation, the compressor produces the pressurized air required for proper fuel delivery and atomization. The gear set transfers rotation from the motor shaft to the compressor shaft so this air supply can be generated whenever the heater is operating.

Because these gears operate continuously while the burner is running, wear or damage can eventually affect compressor drive. What the Gear Set Does

The M-Series burner head contains both an electric motor and diaphragm compressor.

The motor gear transfers rotation from the heater motor to the compressor gear. The compressor gear then drives the compressor shaft, allowing the diaphragm compressor to cycle and create air pressure.

That compressed air is part of the heater’s combustion system. Maintaining the proper mechanical relationship between the motor, gears, and compressor is therefore important for reliable heater startup and combustion.

A damaged drive gear can prevent the compressor from operating correctly even when the motor itself is still functioning.

The 402102K is for the later diaphragm-compressor configuration.

Do not interchange the two gear sets based only on heater model.
