The Dometic ProHeat 200508K is the factory 12-volt drive motor used in compatible standard ProHeat M-Series diesel-fired coolant heaters.

What the M-Series Motor Drives

The M-Series uses one drive motor for three important burner functions.

Combustion-Air Blower

The motor drives the impeller-style blower that supplies the primary air required for combustion.

Air Compressor

The motor also drives the air compressor. On diaphragm-compressor models, the compressor is driven through a gear set.

The compressor supplies a metered amount of compressed air to the fuel nozzle. As compressed air passes through the nozzle, it creates the venturi effect used to draw fuel into the nozzle and atomize it into a fine fuel-and-air mixture for combustion.

Fuel Supply Pump

The motor directly drives the positive-displacement fuel pump. That pump draws fuel from the vehicle tank and supplies it to the fuel regulator.

ProHeat’s M-Series service documentation specifically states that the motor drives the combustion-air blower, air compressor, and fuel supply pump.

Current G-II Compatibility

The current ProHeat G-II parts catalog lists 12V basic burner-head assemblies for:

• M50 – 12V
• M80 – 12V
• M90 – 12V

Those burner-head assemblies use the 200508K 12V motor.

Current M105 and M125 basic heaters are documented as 24V configurations and therefore use the corresponding 24V motor rather than 200508K.

Legacy M-Series Compatibility

The earlier G-I M-Series parts catalog also lists 200508K as the 12V motor used in the legacy burner-head assembly.

The G-I selection guide specifically documents:

• M50 – 12V
• M80 – 12V

This means 200508K spans both legacy G-I and newer G-II standard M-Series applications.

For transit-bus, motor-coach, or other OEM-specific heaters, verify the existing motor or burner-head part number before ordering because ProHeat documents application-specific parts and software for some OEM installations.

During normal motor replacement, ProHeat instructs technicians to remove the drive gear and retaining ring from the old motor and transfer them to the replacement motor when those components remain serviceable.

Legacy rotary-vane-compressor heaters can use different gear components, so verify the burner configuration before ordering gear parts.

Replaceable Motor Brushes

Motor Diagnostics

The G-II PCM monitors motor operation.

A motor-related fault can result from:

• Electrical open circuit
• Short circuit
• Excessive electrical load
• Mechanical binding
• Blower rubbing the housing
• Compressor or fuel-pump drive resistance
• Motor speed outside the expected range

Before replacing the motor, inspect the blower and burner-head components for mechanical interference and confirm that the motor rotates freely.

Installation Notes

When replacing the motor:

• Shut the heater down completely
• Disconnect vehicle battery power
• Remove the blower housing
• Remove the blower and retaining ring
• Disconnect the motor from the PCM
• Remove the four motor mounting bolts
• Carefully remove the motor from the fuel-pump drive
• Transfer the drive gear and retaining ring if serviceable
• Lubricate the fuel-pump seal with clean diesel fuel
• Align the motor correctly with the fuel-pump gear
• Install the supplied mounting fasteners
• Reinstall the blower and retaining ring
• Confirm the blower rotates freely
• Reconnect all electrical components
• Operate the heater through a complete cycle after service

Factory Motor Mounting Torque

ProHeat specifies:

75 ± 7 in-lb (8.5 ± 0.8 Nm)

for the four motor mounting bolts.
